This paper shows the possibility of fighting SARS-CoV-2 with a synthetic defective interfering version of the virus, lacking of elements that cause the sickness; kinda like fighting fire with more fire but with the positive twist. The scientist are planning to test the idea on human lung cells in vitro first with variety of strains of course, before moving into human tests (in vivo)
